Sick of Being Sick

Hello all. I know I haven't posted much lately. That's because we've are still sick. Nothing much is new since my last post. It turns out Madeline had an ear infection (her first ever!) Both girls still have a bad cold and to top it off Zella is teething. She had six teeth coming in and two finally broke through. Poor little thing.

Hopefully we'll be feeling better soon. I'm feeling better at least!

We're Sick Again

Hello all. We are continuing our streak of sickness with a new round of miserable colds. Madeline has had a high temp and the girls and I aren't feeling well at all. Travis had to work part of this weekend (He's been there for 8 hours today...Sunday...and counting). They had a major mishap that will shut down the mill indefinately. They hope to be running again on Tuesday but who knows.

So it has been an uneventful weekend! Just resting and trying to feel better.

Hope all is well!

Lori

Gabrielson Christmas

Hello all. We celebrated the Gabrielson Christmas last weekend at Adventureland Inn in Altoona. It was a lot of fun and a lot of commotion. :) We met at the Botanical Center at 10:30 and took a tour. The kids and adults loved it! It was really interesting.

Then we went to HuHot Mongolian Grill in West Des Moines for lunch. The food was really good and the place was packed.

We headed to the hotel for swimming in the three pools. We also had a mini birthday party for Zella's first birthday.

Next came supper (spaghetti with meatballs), stocking presents, entertainment and gift exchange with our godchildren.

We had a great time and a lot of laughs. It was so wonderful to see everyone and spend time together. It was really fun to watch the cousins laugh and play.

We missed Karen, Minnesota and Gracie so much!!!!

Unfortunately I don't have photos...my pics didn't turn out. So if you want to see photos check out my brother's online photo album. (Click on the "Kurt & Christa" link to the right)

Thanks to my family for all the fun gifts for us and the girls. Zella was really excited for her birthday gifts too.

Lori

Zella's Appointment

Hello all. I cannot believe it's almost been a week since Zella's appointment! Sorry I haven't had a chance to post.

Zella's appointment was fabulous! Dr. Suh used words like "amazing, incredible and wonderful" to describe her progress.

Her degree of eye turn 12 weeks ago without glasses was 35. Now she has a 20 degree eye turn without glasses. Her numbers with glasses were even better...12 weeks ago 8-10 and now only 5. Incredible! Her was very happy and surprised with her progress.

She DOESN'T need surgery for now and we are so thankful! He was thrilled with her progress. Her next appointment is at the end of May, and she will get a new prescription.

To make a great appointment even better, he asked for photos of Zella to keep in the exam rooms. He'll show to them parents when their kids need glasses. (He already does this but the photos he has show unhappy kids wearing ugly glasses. I may be biased, but Zella is adorable in her glasses!)

He also wants to hang a large photo of Zella in his children's eyewear section. I don't know if this will happen or not, but it's nice to hear how cute your kid is. :)

Thanks for all your prayers and support. We are so thankful!

Opthamologist Appointment

Hello all. Zella has a three month check up tomorrow with her Pediatric Opthamologist (PO). He's supposed to let us know if she will need surgery tomorrow. I'm nervous but mostly anxious to see what her numbers are and get his opinion.

So think good thoughts for us! I'll let you know what he says when I get back from Des Moines on Sunday. (Unless I am able to have computer access before then).

The girls and I are headed south for the appointment tomorrow (Grandma Stacey and Great-Grammy Norma are going to the appointment with us). Then we are headed to Des Moines to spend the night with my best friend Jen and her family. On Friday Zella gets her 12 month photos taken. Then on Saturday and Sunday we are having the Gabrielson Family Christmas at a hotel. It should be fun. Can't wait!

Hope all is well in your little corner of the world.

More later,
Lori

P.S. Madeline spends 98% of her day playing dress up, and now she has Zella playing too. I thought these pics were cute. :)

Zella's Birthday Pictures

Hello all. I've been having some technical difficulties posting pictures but finally got it to work. I'm hoping they won't be sideways!

Zella had a fun birthday. We had Aunt Gayle/Uncle Louie, and cousin Sarah and her husband Jayson over for supper. (Mom and Dad were in Scotland). Zella LOVED the frosting and ate all of it first. Then she moved on to the cake. She also loved opening presents. She wore the tutu I made her for Christmas as you'll see in some of the pics.

Then on Sunday we went to Milo and had a birthday party with the Clendenen family. We had a great time and it was so much fun to see everyone. My camera wasn't working so I only have one pic from that (the one with the happy birthday sign in the background). Aunt Kate came to the rescue and took TONS for adorable pics with her new camera. She's going to get those to me and I will share them.

I cannot believe my baby is one!

Hope you like the pics!
