Overheard at Our House

On my birthday Zella and Madeline were helping me make a cake.  I decided to use a bundt pan so it would look pretty.  Zella looked at Madeline and said, "Why are we using a BUTT PANT to make mama's cake??? That sounds gross!"

*****************************************

Violet was coloring with markers with Travis.  She kept holding up markers and trying to name their color.  She picked up the brown marker and said, "POOP" instead of brown.  I have never laughed so hard in my life.

****************************************

Zella really misses my Grandpa Lester who passed away.  Every night she prays for Grandpa "LesTURD" in heaven.

Violet adores kittens.  We were at Petco looking at cats and she kept yelling Titty! Titty! at the top of her lungs.  We got a few strange looks.  She also says "toot" instead of cute.

Miss Violet

I know I keep mentioning the coughing.  But.  Oh. my. word.  The coughing has been ridiculous.

I keep having coughing fits and Miss Violet will drop whatever she is doing to run over to me and say,

"You okay, Mama? You okay?"

She is an absolute sweetheart when she does this over and over each day.

She puts her hand on my back or face and gets such a serious look in her eye.

"You okay?"

And although this is a true picture of a little angel, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the flip side.  I mentioned that she "drops whatever she is doing" to come and check on me.

However.

The "whatever she is doing" is generally naughty.  Climbing on the dining room table and piano, pulling hair, stealing toys, throwing her baby and baby bottle at our heads, etc.

She is a wild one and I am exhausted.

But.

Then she comes over to me with such concern and care.

"You okay, Mama?"

Yes, Violet  I am.

Overheard at Our House

*The girls have been sick and kept losing their voice. Zella told me, "Mama, I have a figure of speech in my throat." Instead of saying she had a frog in her throat. That girl cracks me up!

*Madeline would like to be a princess and a fruit picker when she grows up. She is going to pick fruit for the orchard/pizza parlor that Zella would like to own when she grows up.

*Zella announced to us that she would like to marry many times. We could be in trouble with this one!

*Violet has a new catch phrase. She says "Oh, geesh." To everything. She puckers her lips when she says it. I'll have to try and get a video because it's too cute to miss.

*Madeline told me her heart was breaking because she missed Violet while she was at school. She also thought her heart would burst because she loved her Papa so much. She's pretty good at describing her emotions, although it isn't always cute. :)

Overheard at Our House

Zella has been hilarious lately. (Or at least I think she's hilarious...I am her mother after all).

Here are a couple of her misunderstood pronunciations:
Chicken pops instead of chicken pox
Corn purse instead of coin purse

*************************************************************

We were snuggling on the couch and she yelled, "I use my arms (shook her arms), my hands (wiggled her fingers) and my quick wit (tapped her pointer finger to her head)!"

*************************************************************

Travis was tucking her in bed and she told him she had to ask a serious question. He told her to go ahead and ask.

"Papa, do you like meatballs?"

Overheard at Our House

Zella was watching me put on my makeup and I couldn't find my mascara. I asked her, "Where is my mascara?" She picked it up off the floor and said, "Here mama, here is your MIGHT SCARE YA."

**********************************************************************

Madeline and Zella were playing in the toy room when Zella hit Madeline with a Barbie doll. Madeline yelled, "ZELLA! I'm gonna call the cops on you!" Kind of makes me wonder where they heard that!

**********************************************************************

Zella must not pay attention to the ending of words, because she is constantly saying things wrong. Some of the cutest are:

*Frosted lakes instead of frosted flakes

*Ice scream instead of ice cream

Overheard at Our House

We have been talking a lot about potty training at our house these days. Zella woke up dry and so we ran to the bathroom to sit on the potty. I asked her, "What is the first thing big girls do when they get up in the morning?" And she answered, "GO SHOPPING!"

************************************************************************

I was tucking Madeline in bed and gave her a good night hug and kiss. She said, "Mama, I just have one question. Was that true loves kiss?" Maybe we have been reading too many princess stories lately!

***********************************************************************

Madeline loves her new baby sister. At least once a day she says to me, "We sure are lucky ducks to have a baby sister like Violet! Right?"

Overheard at Our House

Zella was almost asleep when she suddenly sat up in bed and yelled, "You be the princess and I'll be the pirate. Arrrrrrrrrrrr!" Then she laid back down and went to sleep.

***************

We went to a picnic on Sunday night at Centennial Park. Madeline loves to pick "flowers" (aka weeds) and there were plenty to pick at the park. She took an empty Coke bottle and filled it with flowers and water. She said the flowers were for God. She held the bottle up in the air for a moment and then seemed frustrated. She said, "Mama, these flowers are for God but he didn't take them!" Too cute.

***************

We were on a walk the other day and Madeline saw a yard filled with dandelions. She told me the people who lived there must be rich because they planted so many flowers in their front yard. :)

****************

Madeline has trouble saying the letter V. (She usually calls Violet Biolet unless she really slows down and thinks about it.) So I thought it was funny when she said, "Look, Biolet has a vomit." I couldn't figure out what she was saying until I realized she was trying to say bonnet.
